Mike Young, the Director of Tax and Audit Advisory Services has been a member of the firm for over 22 years, providing attest, business advisory, valuation and litigation support services. Mike is a former audit and business advisory service manager for an international accounting firm and the former CFO of a regional retailer and contractor.
With expertise in auditing privately-held companies, Mike works closely with clients in the following industries:

Mike’s depth of understanding and knowledge repeatedly proves to be invaluable to his clients. In addition to performing traditional attest services, he is an expert in business valuation and litigation support. His litigation support engagements have included the calculation of economic damages and fraud investigations. Mike frequently serves as an expert witness with respect to these matters. Mike and his team also specialize in event-driven business valuations for estate and gift tax, financial and tax compliance, and mergers and acquisitions.
Mike is a member of SC&H’s Executive Committee, where he oversees the operations of the firm’s operations, various practice areas and service lines. Additionally, he serves on the firm’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Committee.
Graduating from Towson University, Mike holds a B.S. in Business with a concentration in Accounting, and is an Accredited Business Valuator (ABV) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He holds active memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), and the Association of Corporate Growth, for which he previously served on the board and as treasurer.
Mike takes an active role in his community, having served as President as well as on the board of the ARC of Baltimore, an organization which he continues to serve on the finance committee. He is also a Board Member and Treasurer for the Walters Art Museum of Baltimore. In his spare time Mike enjoys spending time on the golf course and practicing yoga.
