Jim Jenkins, a Director of SC&H Group’s Audit team has been a valued resource to the firm for over 12 years, holding diverse experience in audits, reviews and compilations, mergers and acquisitions, and process improvements.
With former Big 8 experience as well as having served as a Controller and CFO for both privately held and public companies, Jim holds public accounting knowledge combined with a thorough business understanding. This unique combination of experience makes him a valuable resource for his clients and the SC&H leadership team.
Though his expertise is versatile among services within the practice, Jim specifically advises on employee benefit plan audits, due diligence, and financial statement preparation. As a former Controller and CFO, Jim developed comprehensive knowledge and expertise in financial accounting, acquisition integration, and operational processes across different business sectors. He works with a variety of industries and specializes in the following:

- Manufacturing & Distribution
- Professional Services
- Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP)
In addition to attest services, Jim and his staff provide clients with internal process controls consulting, helping companies achieve efficiencies and assurance, while better accounting for their financials to allow for better management decisions.
Outside of Jim’s audit role, he has a heavy hand in SC&H Group’s training programs. Specifically he is responsible for educating the firm on its Employee Stock Ownership Plan and is a member of its 401(k) Investment Committee. His internal training efforts are one of many ways he supports educational opportunities and is annually selected to speak at regional and national conferences to provide insights.
Jim received a Master of Science in Finance from Loyola University Maryland, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bucknell University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA). Additionally, Jim is SC&H’s representative to the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center. Jim is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Maryland, Florida, and Pennsylvania, and has passed all three parts of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam.
Jim serves on the board of Towson Global Business Incubator, The Maryland Council on Economic Education, and Emerging Technology Center (ETC). Jim enjoys working with Baltimore area technology companies because of their energy behind new ideas to further grow the industry. He volunteers as an accounting and finance mentor for the Emerging Technology Center as well as bwtech@UMBC. Outside of the office Jim can be found on the golf course, coaching youth sports, or adding more miles and less minutes to his running distance.
