The idea behind SC&H Group was drawn up 25 years ago on the back of a napkin in a Baltimore restaurant. What resulted was the creation of a firm built upon the belief that talented, driven, and dedicated individuals could produce work so extraordinary it would have meaningful impact on their clients’ businesses.
When we opened our doors on August 16, 1991, it was with a mission to develop deeper and more productive relationships with clients, engage our employees, and forge close connections with communities where we conduct business.
Today, with more than 250 employees SC&H Group has a strong foothold in the Mid-Atlantic, a client base including some of the largest brands in the world, and a client approval rating nearly five-times the industry average. The firm achieved a Net Promoter Score – a client loyalty metric – of 84.4%, a world-class rating of client satisfaction.
Our employees are not only productive, but highly motivated and engaged in the future direction of the firm. Accounting Today and Inside Public Accounting have repeatedly named us among the best firms to work for in the United States.
Since the beginning, we have structured ourselves around three pillars: Powerful Minds, Passionate Teams, and Proven Results. These core concepts provide the composition for all the work we do. At SC&H, we transform clients by delivering unparalleled advice and service with a deep bench of professionals who are motivated, intelligent, and passionate. As a result, clients are not only loyal but highly likely to recommend SC&H to other companies.
Our leadership team recognized early on we had to offer an array of services to meet growing client needs, so we began systematically molding the firm into a diversified consultancy with expertise in practices that not only included Audit and Tax, but investment banking and valuation advisory, wealth management, and Technology Advisory. We moved strategically to partner with companies that offered some of the most powerful management tools and applications available to help solve clients’ problems.
In 2000, we launched the Business Performance Management practice, which helps leading organizations operate their business more efficiently and intelligently using the Oracle-Hyperion technology suite. In 2016, SC&H conducted the largest Oracle-Hyperion cloud-based implementation in the world for the global hospitality company – Hilton Worldwide.
We have become a leading management consultant and Oracle Platinum Partner, specializing in Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management and Business Intelligence solutions. Additionally, our team is the first in the world to achieve the Cloud Select North America designation within the new Oracle PartnerNetwork Cloud Program for two consecutive years.
Over the years, we took the blueprint from our Business Performance Management group, and additional practices were launched including Risk Management, Corporate Tax Services, and the Contract Compliance Audit group, which provides some of the largest corporations in the world with audits of third-party contracts. The practice, which is widely recognized as a global leader in the field, works with retail, technology, financial, professional services, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, oil and gas, and manufacturing companies to perform audits that not only review third-party relationships, but improve transparency, and can save clients hundreds of millions of dollars.
Another practice that is experiencing significant growth both domestically and internationally is our SC&H Capital Group, which was formed in 2005 to advise clients in industries including, but not limited to healthcare, manufacturing, technology, and government contracting, that want to sell or merge their businesses. Our investment bankers leverage their expertise, industry connections, and extensive tax and consulting resources to advise middle market and growth companies across the United States.
We have also built a reputation as a leading financial consultancy through SC&H Financial Advisors. Its business is growing remarkably helping individuals, families, and businesses plan their financial futures by offering an array of services ranging from money management and financial planning services to retirement, tax and risk control strategies.
As we have continued to evolve, we have fully embraced the software and technology that is shaping the business world. We understand the economic realities middle market companies face in hiring, retaining, and managing top technology talent that can work with technology and can apply it to enhancing business performance. We also understand the need for C-suite partnership in transitioning technology into a business driver.
Members who lead our CFO Advisory Services are experts at deploying Intacct, the powerful accounting software that enables them to bring sophistication and expertise to rapidly growing emerging companies in need of technology and advisory . We anticipate more innovations in technology and software, which our consultants will embrace to give our clients a competitive edge.
We have always believed our employees are our most precious resource – and we value that resource. In 2015, we converted to a 100 percent ESOP, so all employees have an ownership stake in the company – they are the building blocks of our continued success.
Our people serve the communities where we conduct business by giving back and getting involved wherever they can. Each employee averages 27 hours of volunteer or pro bono work a year, nearly three times the national average for all businesses.
While our teams possess vast historical knowledge, they know the future offers even greater opportunities as new technologies are adopted. Regardless of the changes in tools and technologies, the value we see continues to be in providing our clients with exceptional advice from experts who are leaders in their fields. As always, our three pillars – Powerful Minds, Passionate Teams, and Proven Results – drive our firm to excellence.
