Erin Charles is a Director in SC&H Group’s Audit Services practice. With more than 14 years of experience, Erin specializes in leading audit, accounting, and consulting engagements for clients in the manufacturing, distribution, governmental, retail, technology, non-profit and medical cannabis industries.
In particular, Erin maintains deep expertise in the manufacturing and distribution industries, using her insight to help middle-market global companies overcome challenges and identify savings opportunities. She works closely with businesses in diverse manufacturing sectors, including food processing, machining and fabrication, defense, building materials, electronic devices, packaging, printing, textile and retail, and more.
Erin directs many of the firms most challenging attest engagements, partnering with client management to ensure compliance with U.S and International accounting and auditing standards. She also performs employee benefit plan audits and various value-added services, including control assessments and process improvements and business combination and financial statement consulting.
In addition to ensuring ongoing client communication and high-quality service, Erin provides continuing coaching and mentorship to audit team members. She organizes and budgets engagement efforts, and researches complex financial accounting issues. Erin directs the audit group’s innovation committee overseeing talent, process and technology to successfully impact the future of audits.
In addition to her other roles, Erin has been instrumental in helping the medical cannabis community gain clarity on complex business issues. She helps individuals and companies working in the cannabis industry identify and apply tax and business strategies to increase cash flow while making sure they are in full compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
Erin serves on the Board of Directors and acts as the Treasurer for both The Homeless Persons Representation Project and The Tyanna Foundation.
When she is not working, Erin enjoys traveling, yoga, paddle boarding, and spending time outdoors.
Erin earned a B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Delaware. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), and Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants. She was recently named one of the 2017 Leading Women by The Daily Record.
