The M&A Advisor has announced that the Special Situations team at SC&H Capital, a leading investment banking and advisory firm, has been honored with the Consumer Staples Deal of the Year (Under $1B) award for the sale of a multi-unit restaurant franchisee group to multiple strategic buyers. The firm will be recognized at the Awards Gala on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in Palm Beach, Florida.
The restaurant group faced significant financial challenges due to a combination of micro and macro factors, including increasing debt service obligations from a Main Street Lending Program loan. This culminated in the closure of underperforming stores and a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. The Company engaged SC&H Capital to explore both a new money plan of reorganization and a sale of the company’s assets. During the sale process, SC&H Capital generated multiple bids for the entire portfolio as well as individual locations and ultimately negotiated successful stalking horse bids for restaurant groups in Florida and Alabama. A competitive auction generated additional value for the estate from the Alabama locations.
