Joshua Downey is a Vice President and CPA/ABV of SC&H Capital’s Business Valuation Advisory practice. In this role, Joshua provides clients with business valuation, litigation support, and merger and acquisition services.
Joshua’s areas of expertise include
- Valuation of closely held private companies for estate and gift tax purposes
- Entity status conversions
- ESOP transactions
- Purchase price allocations
He also regularly assists with 409A deferred compensation and goodwill impairment. Clients routinely benefit from Joshua’s ability to develop efficient financial models to determine business valuations.

A graduate of Loyola University Maryland, Joshua received his bachelor’s degree in business administration with concentrations in accounting and finance. Joshua also holds the Accredited in Business Valuation credential (ABV) from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of Maryland.
Additionally, Joshua is a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and a member of the AICPA where he was the recipient of the AICPA’s Forensic and Valuation Services honor in 2017.
Joshua is a skilled chess player, nationally rated for his ability, and ranked among the top 100 players in Maryland. In his free time he also enjoys woodworking and fishing.
