SC&H Group Employee Spotlight: Caroline Miner’s Passion for Revitalizing Denver’s South Platte River Corridor

As a member of the community outreach committee of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) – Denver chapter, Caroline has been involved in projects that help revitalize areas in the South Platte River Corridor in Denver.

For many years the Platte River, which runs through Denver, was impacted by pollution from industrial activities around the region.  Denver is expected to grow by 178,000 new residents and nearly the same number of workers by the year 2035.  Thanks to recent clean-up efforts, the South Platte River Corridor is at the center of this growth, with new housing and jobs being served by a growing public transit network.

Caroline recently spearheaded the SC&H Group sponsorship of the CH2M HILL Spring RiverSweep, which is the biannual Platte River clean-up volunteer event.  SC&H Group provided coffee and refreshments and helped with mulching trees and the play area at Pasquinel’s Landing, a playground near the river.  In addition, during the event, SC&H Group helped clean up trash along the riverbank.

She is also involved with the Urban Land Institute (ULI), which is a large organization that supports the responsible use of land by creating and sustaining thriving communities around the world.  Caroline is part of the ULI Colorado Young Leaders Group. One aspect of her role with the organization is supporting their Discovery Series of events, which develops programs that focus on retail redevelopment, distressed property assets and housing redevelopment opportunities around transit.

Through efforts like these, Caroline is able to help spark commercial real estate growth in her region.  The idea of “doing well, while doing good” has helped the SC&H Group Real Property practice expand in the Denver area.

When she is not working for SC&H Group or volunteering with these organizations, Caroline spends her free time with her family and seven-month old baby girl.  She was also recently accepted as a donor for the Mother’s Milk Bank of Colorado.

Caroline is a shining example of how SC&H Group employees effectively volunteer their time with organizations that give back to the community, while also supporting the growth of the firm.

This combination of bringing passion to the community and the workplace is why this month’s SC&H Group “Employee Spotlight” highlights Caroline’s great efforts in the Denver area.
