Celebrating the True Meaning of Memorial Day
May 22, 2015 - By: SC&H Group
While many of us are heading out today to enjoy a long weekend with friends and loved ones, it’s all too easy to forget about the true meaning of Memorial Day.
The holiday originally came about after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in battle. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor and remember the brave men and women who put on the uniform of our armed forces.
Memorial Day is also a time to remember that the foundation of a strong community comes from those who are willing to serve others. In addition to enjoying a long weekend relaxing with loved ones, Military.com is offering these community-oriented recommendations for commemorating our soldiers.
SC&H Group would like to thank our troops for making the ultimate sacrifice – allowing us to enjoy this weekend in a very meaningful way.
