California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Announces 2014 Tax Appeals Deadlines

The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) recently announced the overall county assessment appeals filing periods for 2014. In California, property taxes are based on the property’s assessed value as determined by the county assessor.

Here is the announcement from the BOE regarding the appeals deadlines:

The clerks of county assessment appeals boards and county boards of equalization have certified the assessment appeals filing period for their counties pursuant to the requirements of Revenue and Taxation Code section 1603.

The regular appeals filing period will begin on July 2, 2014 in each county and will end either on September 15 or December 1 (November 30 falls on a Sunday), depending on whether the county assessor has elected to mail assessment notices, by August 1, 2014, to all taxpayers with property on the secured roll.

In addition, the deadlines for each county are provided here.
