Steve Summers is an experienced member of our Contract Compliance Audit Services practice, with an impressive tenure of over 18 years at our firm. Steve began his career with SC&H as an intern in May 2005 and has since become an integral part of our team.
Within our practice, Steve’s expertise lies in ensuring proper supplier governance for our clients, identifying opportunities for cost savings, enhancing internal controls, and improving contracts. Moreover, Steve is deeply committed to developing our team members. Serving on SC&H’s Training Committee, he has played a pivotal role in shaping our training and development programs, including new hire training sessions and regular lunch and learns.
In the realm of industries, Steve has served clients across diverse sectors, including pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, chemicals, hospitality, technology, infrastructure, and retail. His focus on auditing indirect suppliers has given him extensive experience in various areas, such as marketing, IT, construction, MRO, labor services, and facilities management.
What drives Steve in his role is the sense of camaraderie and collaboration fostered at SC&H. The opportunity to work alongside exceptional colleagues and clients, solving complex problems, and helping individuals achieve their goals is what makes his job truly fulfilling.
Steve holds a degree in Accounting from Towson University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the State of Maryland, and a Certified Internal Auditor. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
Outside of the office, Steve is deeply involved in coaching his sons’ baseball teams. He values the discipline, consistency, and teamwork that sports instill in individuals. Steve also enjoys spending quality time with family, whether it’s at a beach, on a mountaintop, or exploring national parks like Shenandoah, the Great Smoky Mountains, and Acadia.
