Michael Lawler

As a principal with SC&H Group’s Risk Management practice, Mike brings over 15 years of expertise in Internal Audit, Fraud Investigations, and SOX 404 to his clients. His diverse client background includes private enterprises as well as state and local government entities. Throughout his 15 years of experience, Mike has performed and lead a variety of risk management projects including internal audits, internal control, business process improvement, and strategic consulting projects.

Mike is motivated daily by assisting clients in overcoming obstacles. His solution-oriented approach provides realistic recommendations to each client’s unique situation.

Mike graduated Cum Laude from Frostburg State University with a Bachelors in Science in Accounting. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He is also a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Maryland Government Finance Officers Association (MDGFOA).

When he is not at the office, Mike serves on the board of the Baltimore Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). In addition, he volunteers as a baseball coach and as an executive board member of Lakeshore Youth Baseball in Pasadena, MD.

An avid outdoorsman, Mike takes advantage of the diverse seasonal options Maryland has to offer. In the summer, you can find him fishing, crabbing, and boating on the Chesapeake Bay. During the winter, he enjoys skiing on the slopes or hunting in the woods.
