Matt Simons is a Principal in SC&H Group’s Risk Management practice. With more than 12 years of strategic consulting experience, Matt helps various organizations address financial and operational risks and enhance business processes to boost business performance.
Matt oversees and executes both co-sourced and outsourced internal audit, internal control, and process improvement engagements with meticulous focus to ensure operations are functioning efficiently and risks are addressed effectively. He works closely with his clients and project teams on critical planning/scoping activities, team coordination, fieldwork functions, and reporting procedures. Matt continuously communicates and coordinates with team members to provide best practice recommendations and achieve project objectives.
Matt‘s experience includes companies across various industries, including government, technology, financial services, utilities, and manufacturing. His continuous commitment to client satisfaction is a prime focal point in his role. His analytical and research skills have provided risk mitigation opportunities, increased organizational compliance, and promoted operational efficiencies.
Matt is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Towson University, with a B.S. in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Maryland and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). He is also a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
Active in the community, Matt is on the board of the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC). Gunpowder Valley Conservancy is a Baltimore-based non-profit organization founded to help protect and maintain the Gunpowder Valley watershed.
