Justin Huovinen has been a tax professional with SC&H since 2007, where he jump-started his career here as a summer intern. He specializes in complex tax compliance, tax research projects, and M&A activity with a focus on advising partnerships and S-corporations. Justin works closely with clients to strategically analyze and optimize tax planning and savings opportunities and build a comprehensive approach to business and personal taxes. His experience spans multiple industries, but his core work occurs in the real estate, construction, and emerging technology sectors.
Justin is passionate about mentoring and training SC&H’s younger staff to help them reach their full professional potential. Part of this work entails sharing the latest in tax legislation and collaborating with the team on policy and procedure planning and implementation. During his time here at SC&H, he has sat on several firm committees for strategic planning, culture, innovation, community service, and training. Justin is actively involved in the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new members to our tax team.
Justin earned his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Delaware where he received the UD Community Service Award. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) as well as the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA).
Justin has served on the board of Athletes Serving Athletes, is a 2016 Baltimore Volunteer Maryland GIVE Program graduate, is an avid supporter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) through the Light the Night Walk, and is a current member of the Stevenson University Accounting Advisory Board. Outside of the office, you can find Justin spending time with his wife and three young sons, enjoying a day at Hershey Park, or making plans to visit Disney World. Justin also loves to read a good murder mystery or build a Lego with his boys.
