“SC&H offers lots of growth opportunities, maintains a relaxed atmosphere, and provides many social activities. I wanted a place that valued a work-life balance, and SC&H truly ticked every box I was looking for in a firm. I think anyone who is looking for an internship should check SC&H out because it will change your perspective of what a public accounting firm is and what it should look like.”Khaled Farousi

Push your boundaries, capitalize on new opportunities, and experience exponential growth with a team that has your back and celebrates your success. Scroll through to learn more about our typical internship process from start to finish before you apply.
Identify the service line that aligns with your professional course then apply for the corresponding intern role on our job listing site. If you have talked with a college recruiter at a networking event and/or on-site career fair, you will still need to apply online.
Our recruiting team will review all applications and reach out to qualified candidates with the next steps. Please keep in mind that we receive a high volume of applications and do our best to review them in a timely manner.
If you are selected to advance in the process, you will then interview with leaders from your chosen service line. On-site campus interviews are scheduled through your university's platform (Handshake, Symplicity, etc.).
If you're the right fit for SC&H, we’ll let you know that you’ve been selected for our summer internship program!
During the first week, we give overviews of our service lines and provide technical and soft skills training. Throughout the program, interns mimic the duties of first-year staff—working with project teams on supervised client deliverables, interacting with clients, shadowing senior colleagues, and engaging in company events. Each intern is paired with a mentor for the duration and completes a final project and presentation on one of our service lines before finishing their time at SC&H.
After your internship, we’d love to hear from you through an exit interview! Your feedback will help our team enhance the program and ensure an outstanding experience for future interns.
At the end of the program, offers may be extended to graduating seniors at the discretion of the service lines based on performance, culture fit, budget, and other variables.
“As a female college graduate who entered the workforce in 2016, something that was important to me when finding a company to work for was having the opportunity to grow. SC&H is a place where we have the opportunity to develop, learn, and make it really, whatever we want it to be. SC&H cares about its employees as much as they care about their clients. When you’re happy where you are, you are willing to learn, you are equipped to grow, and you are able to excel. And that is exactly what I plan on doing here at SC&H.”

“The SC&H internship provided me with a head start in my career and professional development compared to my classmates. I chose to stay with SC&H after I graduated because of the exposure I received with a wide range of industries and the work-life culture that fosters the development of young professionals. The SC&H internship program is a great opportunity for students who are pursuing an accounting career because of the incredible people and community that make SC&H a great place to work.”

“I chose to join SC&H primarily because of the incredible people within the organization. During my internship, I faced numerous challenges that not only tested my abilities but also introduced me to an exceptional team. The company offered me the flexibility necessary to thrive both as a student athlete and a committed employee. Upon transitioning to a full-time role, I was grateful for the opportunities to take on leadership responsibilities and contribute to my community. Over the last decade, my journey at SC&H has been marked by continuous growth and success, which I wholeheartedly attribute to the outstanding internship program and the nurturing culture fostered within the firm.”

“I had a really rewarding experience as an intern at SC&H last summer. Not only was I able to get solid, hands-on experience in my service line, but I also enjoyed the relaxed and welcoming environment. Public accounting is a very standardized industry, and the work is going to be pretty similar across most firms. That’s why it’s important to find a firm that puts people first. SC&H certainly does this, and that quality is the main reason I chose to accept with SC&H full-time after my internship experience.”

“My internship was a fantastic experience. With it being my first real internship, it changed my view of the workforce and how a company should look. I got to work very closely with the audit department and was included in meetings and had responsibilities similar to a staff all summer. As interns, we got to be a part of the SC&H Day of Service, all the company happy hours, and even went to an Orioles game. The best part of the entire experience was the people I met. Everyone in the entire company was so nice, informative, and entertaining.”

Are you open to hiring interns that require sponsorship?
We sponsor international candidates on a case-by-case basis, especially those eligible for the federal 24-month STEM OPT extension. Remember, it’s essential for the student to check their eligibility, and if unsure, they can seek guidance from their school’s office of international programs.
Do I get to pick which office I work in?
Our campus recruiting team will help interns during interviews to identify their ideal location and service line for the internship. The internship office location is typically determined by the service line’s base location. We’ll be sure to find the best spot for you!
What type of culture-based events do interns get to participate in?
Get ready for an electrifying summer with us! Our interns get to experience life at SC&H while bonding with our full-timers. From an epic Day of Service spent volunteering in the community, engaging baseball outings, and fun-filled happy hours to some friendly competition at our Field Day and hanging with furry friends during Bring Your Dog to Work Day–there’s something for everyone! Plus, your service line might surprise you with its own mini events. You’re guaranteed to have a blast.
What does an externship look like at SC&H?
Sophomore students in our extern program attend a 5-day on-site internship orientation without being assigned to a specific service line. You’ll take part in service line overviews, training sessions, and our annual Day of Service event. If you’re a freshman, we’d love to talk with you and encourage you to apply, but formal participation in the extern program starts in your sophomore year. Apply now, and let’s plan for an exciting future together!
What benefits do I get as an intern?
During your internship at SC&H, you will enjoy 3-day weekends, 4 days of paid time off to use at your discretion, access to fun company events, and more awesome cultural perks along the way!
