Expertise Beyond the Numbers

The Synchronicity Unicorn and Other Key Topics at Kscope16 [Podcast]

In the following podcast interview, Kevin Hebbel, a Senior Manager with SC&H Group’s Oracle-Hyperion EPM and BI Consulting practice, discusses the firm’s overall presence and upcoming presentations at Kscope16.

Each year, ODTUG’s Kscope conference attracts Oracle customers looking for training and answers to questions in a variety of topic areas. Kscope attendees range from executives and managers to developers, architects, business analysts, and administrators.

SC&H Group is a Kscope16 Gold Sponsor, and will have an expanded presence at this year’s conference. The team will host a series of dynamic presentations on the following topics:

  • Developing Workforce Planning strategies
  • Gaining accuracy in data collection
  • Migrating Classic HFM business rules to Calculation Manager
  • Synchronizing Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS) with on-premise HFM

Below is a preview of each of these presentations, along with the times/dates for each session.

Developing Workforce Planning Strategies

Brett Schneider of SC&H Group will discuss how planning and forecasting your company’s workforce by employee is not the only effective way to deploy Workforce Planning. Brett will evaluate the benefits of using an Employee Name dimension versus a Position ID dimension in this session:

  • Session Title: Workforce Planning: The Pros and Cons of Planning by Employee Name or Position ID
  • Time/Date: June 27, 2016, Session 1, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
  • Location: Kscope16

Gaining Accuracy in Data Collection

When reporting from a Hyperion Planning application, there are often challenges with bad data entering the EPM application – often from user mistakes and misunderstood directions. David Fouts and Nick Scott of SC&H Group will discuss application controls that prevent dirty data from entering EPM applications in this session:

  • Session Title: Accounting for Users Who Are One Sandwich Short of a Picnic
  • Time/Date: June 27, 2016, Session 5, 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.
  • Location: Kscope16

Migrating Classic HFM Business Rules to Calculation Manager

Many organizations do not take full advantage of the available features in their Hyperion applications to manage business rules. In this session, Kevin Hebbel will discuss the various ways to migrate classic HFM business rules to Calculation Manager to take advantage of the best features and functionality available:

  • Session Title: The Easy Way, the Hard Way, and the Right Way to Migrate HFM Business Rules to Calculation Manager
  • Time/Date: June 29, 2016, Session 18, 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Location: Kscope16

Synchronizing Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS) with On-Premise HFM

In the rapidly evolving realm of Oracle EPM cloud offerings, many challenges remain with aligning cloud-based and on-premise solutions to create a system of financial applications that work together effectively. SC&H Group calls this elusive creature the “unicorn of synchronicity.” Both Nick Scott and Raj Chaudhury of SC&H Group will address this challenge by discussing how to maintain consistency between newly implemented Oracle EPM cloud applications and on-premise solutions in the following session:

  • Session Title: Harnessing the Synchronicity Unicorn: PBCS and On-Premise HFM Working Together
  • Time/Date: June 28, 2016, Session 8, 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
  • Location: Kscope16
