Success Matters Series: Key Insights into the Changes Occurring in the Healthcare Industry [Podcast]

In the following “Success Matters” podcast, Leslie Simmons, R.N., F.A.C.H.E, President of Carroll Hospital Center, provides her insights from the strategic planning process that the hospital underwent as a result of the passage of the Affordable Care Act.

Many companies are faced with changing external environments, and how they react to these changes can define success – or the alternative.

In March 2010, a national legislation called the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obama Care, was passed by the U.S. Congress.  This legislation was an attempt to make our national healthcare system more efficient and to increase the quality of patient care.  All healthcare organizations were faced with a multitude of changes and challenges, and as a result, some have thrived, some have maintained, and some have failed.

Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, Maryland is one of the community hospitals who have thrived as a result of the planning that the senior management team and the Board of Directors undertook shortly after the Affordable Care Act was passed.

Leslie shares her perspectives from the planning process, the lessons that she learned, and the outcomes that Carroll Hospital has achieved as the result of merging with LifeBridge Health.
