Bob Dillon

Bob is the Director leading the firm’s Corporate Tax Services practice. Bob offers more than 30 years of experience and has an established record of U.S. Federal and State and International tax planning and tax compliance. He has extensive experience with ASC 740 and 740.10 (formerly FAS 109/FIN 48), Sarbanes-Oxley 404 implementations, mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and IRS large case audits. Bob has advised on state and local income tax issues such as tax structuring and audit planning, negotiations and settlements. He also has deep experience with international tax issues; advising on corporate restructuring of international operations addressing issues relating to tax accounting, tax filing, and cash transfers between foreign jurisdictions.

Bob and his staff undertake special projects, such as Sec. 382 studies, Sec. 199 deduction analyses, transfer pricing studies, and state nexus analyses; ensuring the most advantageous tax scenarios for his corporate clients. Bob provides his expertise to businesses in a diverse set of industries, including financial services, technology, biotechnology, retail, distribution, manufacturing, high-tech, and professional services.

Prior to joining SC&H, Bob was a former Vice President of Tax for a global financial services and asset management company and an Assistant Tax Director for a regional diversified financial services company. He was also a Senior Manager in a “Big 4” Accounting firm, and a Tax Manager for a risk and human resource management consulting and insurance brokerage services firm.

Bob has spoken on numerous occasions on topics relative to the more complex issues surrounding corporate tax. He has presented on the FASB interpretation of ASC 740.10 (FIN 48) accounting for income tax uncertainties at the Advanced Tax Institute, on Cost Segregation for the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT), and has conducted an SC&H Tax Presentation Series on FAS 5 and ASC 740.10 (FIN 48) tax uncertainties for SC&H clients.

A graduate of Loyola College, Bob holds a B.A. in Accounting and is a CPA licensed to practice in Maryland. He is an active member of the American Association of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), and of the Loyola University Accounting Advisory Board. An advocate of active children’s sports, Bob has coached high school boys’ basketball, recreational and travel teams of boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ basketball, and currently coaches his areas recreational girls’ youth basketball team.
